Love Christmas? Here’s How to Enjoy Holidays during Pregnancy!

If you are a holiday person then pregnancy can seem to be terrifying, especially during the holiday season. Pregnancy creates an environment of stress and nervousness which can be worsened during such times. It is the most critical time when a mother needs to stay calm and control her nervousness for the health of the baby. But don’t worry! You can enjoy the holiday vacations even when you are pregnant. Here’s how!

Seven ways to deal with holiday stress during pregnancy

  • Bid farewell to guilt

Do not keep any guilt or second thoughts while you are out on a romantic vacation with your partner during pregnancy. The health of the baby depends upon how stress-free you are during the entire pregnancy period. Put more focus on the fun activities and the memories you will be making for a lifetime.

  • Keep the essentials ready

The winters are really unpredictable, but you must take all the precautions by consulting your doctor. You are just a few months away from giving birth to a beautiful baby, so there is nothing you won’t do to take precautions. Be prepared for all the situations that might come up during your trip.

  • Take good naps

While you are pregnant, the one thing you must take care of is getting enough sleep. While touring or with lots of guests at home, you might miss out on sleep most of the time, so make up for it at night and wake up a little late the next morning. Extra sleeping hours during winter will definitely make you feel more relaxed and energised.

  • Avoid alcohol and fatty foods

Avoid alcohol at all costs as it might be harmful to the baby. Not only that, but you must also take care of your appetite during the entire holiday season to avoid adverse impacts on health. Add sweet potatoes, lean meats, eggs, whole grains, and other healthy items to your diet.

  • Drink enough water

Drink enough water throughout the day to avoid being thirsty all the time. Do not push yourself to drink a whole lot of water, but drink sufficient to prevent dehydration. Make sure you drink at least ten glasses of water on a daily basis even when your house is swarming with guests and you have a lot to do. You will need to stay well nourished &hydrated for enjoying the time with your loved ones.

Planning a trip on the New Year?

No matter what your neighbour or distant aunt says, going on trips is perfectly fine during pregnancy! But the first three weeks or first trimester are probably not the best time for planning vacations as the first 12 weeks causes morning sickness and dizziness which make it uncomfortable for the women to travel. The second trimester is a great time for you to plan a vacation with your loved ones.

It is the time when you regain your energy and are in a good mood to enjoy travelling and do fun activities. It is crucial for the mother to come out of the restrictions of pregnancy and have some fun and pass it on to the baby. During the third trimester, plan your vacations before the 36th week as, after that, you won’t be allowed to travel via flights.
